Cabernet Sauvignon, Random Ridge Vineyard, Mt. Veeder, Napa Valley

This 10 acre vineyard sits 2,400 feet up, in the western-most part of Napa County in the Mt. Veeder AVA (American viticultural area). The soils are made up of decomposed red volcanic clay, tuff (volcanic ash) and solid rock. The vineyard is above the fog line and receives early morning sun and generally, more moderate temperatures. The vineyard is also subject to winds and breezes off the San Francisco Bay, which can slow development. Random Ridge Vineyard produces wines that display cherry and raspberry flavors with bright acidity and firm tannins to help balance the wine. This mountain wine is well-structured for cellaring.
