2015 Merlot
Our Merlot grapes are estate grown on the winery’s Spanos Berberian Estate Vineyard in Yountville approximately one mile south of the Yountville Hills. Yountville enjoys the early morning fog and cool growing conditions of the maritime influenced southern Napa Valley, whilst the early receding fog gives us more sunlight and warmer daytime temperatures than the more southerly Carneros region.  Our warm summer daytime temperatures and cool evenings result in grapes with rich fruit flavors and an excellent acid balance.

Merlot grapes were hand-harvested and gently crushed to minimize crushing of berries and maximize fruit character.  We fermented at 85 degrees-F with a Bordeaux yeast strain, and extracted color utilizing gentle irrigation over the skins.  Following fermentation the wine underwent malo-lactic fermentation and was then racked to barrel.  The wine was barrel aged in French oak barrels (52% new) for 20 months. 

Tasting Notes
Deep in color, the invitingly bright, red berry aromatics on the nose are laced with rosemary, spring forest and a fine dusty black pepper.  The aromas carry through on the palate with fresh raspberry, cranberry, and wonderful subtle baking spices.  Very soft and lush on the palate with a fine grippy tannin and lively acidity to balance it out perfectly. Medium bodied to compliment a wide variety of cuisines, never to interrupt the dish, only to enhance.

2016 Reserve Cabernet
Our Napa Valley Reserve Cabernet sauvignon is blended from superior barrels of wine from select vineyards and appellations within the renowned Napa Valley.  Drawing on his experience with Cabernet sauvignon clones and his intimate knowledge of sub-appellations within the region, Anthony has created a wine that builds upon the unique terroir of Napa Valley.  Our 2016 vintage is a blend of vineyards located in the Calistoga, St. Helena, Rutherford, Yountville, Oakville, Coombsville and Mount Veeder appellations.

The grapes are hand-harvested and gently crushed to retain 40% whole berries.  Color extraction is accomplished via gentle cap irrigations. The grapes were drained and pressed at dryness. The free-run and press wines were kept separate.  Following fermentation the wine went through malo-lactic fermentation in barrel and was then blended.  The blended wine was aged in 100% French oak barrels for 17 months and racked several times to naturally clarify the wine and soften the tannins. With no filtration or fining, the wine was laid down in bottle prior to release.

Tasting Notes
Our Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon is our finest Bordeaux blend of each vintage, hand selected from our best barrel lots.  The wine opens with delightful Cabernet aromas of deep black berries and smoked meaty characteristics.  Dark fruits, dark chocolate, granite, currant and black licorice fill out the soft & sumptuous palate. The acid just brings it all to life and the finish lingers long with more flavor development. Intensely flavored, the layers of complexity are derived from the combination of several different vineyard sources among eight sub-appellations we harvest from throughout Napa Valley, from Calistoga to Coombsville. With Anthony’s trademark of exquisite balance, the finish is smooth and lingering, with seamlessly integrated tannins. Crafted in a rich, concentrated European style, this wine pairs well with flavorful, full-bodied meals, and will reward those with the patience to cellar it.
